A day in Santiago

Image
The hotel is in the middle of the city so perfect to use as a base for some self guided tourist walkies. There are dogs everywhere of all varieties but mostly very big and waggy. The fish market had the most fish I’ve ever seen in one place The buildings are a real mixture of colonial, modern and a fair amount of grot  Changing of the guard Chile style Hubby had enough of walkies so I took myself off to climb the biggest hill in Santiago - San Christobal Definitely needed a cold beer after that!

Santiago

The flight was very, very long but I managed to get some sleep (and watched 4 episodes of The Crown) without passing out, yippee.  The view of the Andes as we descended into Santiago was spectacular but hopefully the photo quality will improve! Santiago airport was a bit chaotic but friendly and our taxi driver was a sweetiepie. Our hotel is an Art Deco beauty with allegedly the oldest lift in Chile. The room has a pretty good view too I always think it’s a good idea to go for a walk after a long flight, but a rather dehydrated and grumpy hubby wasn’t as keen on the walk up to a viewpoint in 30c - oopsie  After a much needed afternoon nap/zonk out, we went walkies again and ended up back in the rooftop bar at the hotel well out of the noisy, smoggy, traffic filled streets beneath. Sauvignon and tapas are always a good end to a long day

A cunning plan

Chile has been at the top of my travel wish list for a long time and this trip is hopefully going to fulfill all of my expectations. This is the cunning plan... Lots and lots of travelling, starting with delightful Heathrow airport and a 14 1/2 hour flight, but I have downloaded the second series of The Crown to keep me entertained!
